AAE 2026 Hong Kong: A Turning Point After Nearly a Decade

AZMDOLL has attended the Hong Kong adult exhibition since 2018. After almost a decade of returning to the city, AAE 2026 gave us a very different picture of the market—and led us to reconsider how we will invest in exhibitions from 2027 onward.

Trade shows are not only places to display products. They are also a useful measure of market confidence: how many brands are willing to exhibit, how many professional buyers travel to attend, and how prepared both sides are to discuss new business. By those measures, this year’s Hong Kong show was clearly weaker than the editions we remember.

What We Saw at AAE 2026

Our team welcomed visitors at booth 5A22 and had several valuable face-to-face conversations. We remain grateful to every customer, distributor, and industry friend who took the time to visit us. Those discussions were meaningful, and the opportunity to demonstrate our products in person still has real value.

However, the overall visitor flow was noticeably lower than in previous years. We also observed that the number of exhibitors appeared to be down by roughly one-third. The quieter aisles were not limited to a single booth or product category; they reflected a broader change in the scale and energy of the exhibition.

Competition from other exhibitions may be one reason. Buyers now have more regional and international events to choose from, while travel budgets and purchasing schedules remain limited. At the same time, we believe the weaker turnout may also reflect a wider slowdown in the market. Distributors are managing inventory more carefully, customers are taking longer to make decisions, and manufacturers are under greater pressure to prove the commercial value of every new product.

AAE 2026 may be remembered by our team not as a disappointing ending, but as the moment we decided to use our exhibition resources more selectively.

Why the 2027 Calendar Is a Concern

From 2027, the Hong Kong adult exhibition is expected to move to May and to be held alongside the organizer’s funeral-industry and silver-economy exhibitions. Co-location may increase the total number of people in the venue, but total footfall is not the same as relevant professional traffic. For adult-product manufacturers and distributors, the more important question is how many qualified buyers will come specifically to find products, suppliers, and long-term partners.

The timing creates an additional challenge. The proposed 2027 regional calendar places the Shenzhen exhibition in March, the Shanghai exhibition in April, and the Hong Kong exhibition in May.

Three exhibitions in three consecutive months are not necessarily good news for factories or distributors. Meaningful product development takes time. A responsible manufacturer cannot produce a completely new and mature collection every few weeks simply to create novelty for another booth. Distributors also face repeated travel costs, similar displays, and limited time to evaluate products and follow up with suppliers between events.

When exhibitions are concentrated too closely, the industry risks spending more energy moving displays than developing better products. We believe a trade show should be supported by genuine innovation, clear business objectives, and enough time for partners to turn conversations into results.

Our Decision for 2027

After reviewing this year’s results and the new calendar, AZMDOLL currently plans to participate only in the Shanghai exhibition in 2027. Unless the Hong Kong schedule or market conditions change materially, AAE 2026 is likely to have been our final Hong Kong adult exhibition.

This decision is not a withdrawal from the market. It is a decision to focus. By concentrating our exhibition budget and preparation on one major domestic event, our factory can give product development, booth presentation, customer appointments, and post-show service the time they deserve. We would rather bring distributors a smaller number of genuinely improved products than repeat nearly identical displays at three shows in three months.

Shanghai also gives us a practical meeting point for domestic and international partners. We plan to prepare carefully for the 2027 event and use it as the central offline presentation of our new products and manufacturing capabilities.

Thank You for Nearly a Decade in Hong Kong

Since our first participation in 2018, the Hong Kong exhibition has been part of AZMDOLL’s international journey. We have met customers, learned from competitors, introduced new products, and built relationships that continued long after the exhibition halls closed.

We sincerely thank the organizers, visitors, partners, and team members who have been part of those years. If AAE 2026 becomes our final edition, we will leave with appreciation for the opportunities the show created—and with a clearer understanding of where our resources can create the most value next.

The observations in this article reflect AZMDOLL’s own experience at AAE 2026 and our current planning for 2027. Exhibition schedules and participation plans may change.
